Celebrate Night at the Museums
November—the weather gets colder, the days shorter, leaves fall and plants go dormant. You may think this is a time when botanic gardens slow down for the season, but did you know there is so much more to Denver Botanic Gardens than pretty plants? The Freyer – Newman Center is home to art galleries, natural history collections, state-of-the-art classrooms and the Helen Fowler Library. Discover all the Center has to offer during Denver Arts Week's Night at the Museums with free, evening admission.
During Night at the Museums, explore our galleries and walk on a 39-foot-long rug made to replicate Argentinean wetlands, see photographs of a canyon system revealed by receding water levels at Lake Powell and experience a site-specific sculpture installation that highlights the ever-changing qualities of light and shadow. Stop by the Sturm Family Auditorium to witness the fusion of art and science in real time with artist Nathan Hall and floral designer Arthur Williams, then head downstairs to explore our natural history collections, which hold tens of thousands of dried specimens, from local Colorado plants and fungi to bugs found here at the Gardens.
Can't get enough? Museum nerds rejoice, as more than 15 other Denver cultural institutions are also opening their doors for Night at the Museums. A convenient free shuttle is available to take you to other locations after your visit to Denver Botanic Gardens. Learn more about Denver Arts Week and plan your route!
Join us on Saturday, November 2, from 5-10 p.m. for free admission to the Freyer – Newman Center. Note there is no garden access during Night at the Museums.
