Beginning Beekeeping
Learn the very basics of beekeeping. In the first session, you will learn whether it is allowable to keep honey bees in your community; the types of hives and their components; where to source equipment and gear, honey bees, further instruction and mentorship; the costs of setting up a colony; as well as timing and time commitment. In the second session, you will learn the essentials of bee biology and colony social structure.

Beth Conrey is the owner of Bee Squared Apiaries which owns and manages 200 colonies from Denver to Wellington and sells honey and other products from the hive. She is the past president of the Northern CO Beekeepers Association, the Colorado State Beekeepers Association and the Western Apicultural Society. She currently sits on the board of the Pollinator Stewardship Council and People and Pollinators Action Network--both organizations focusing on improving pollinator health at the national or state level--through pesticide reduction and improved forage.
