Guided Discovery Tours

Guided Discovery Tours, led by a Denver Botanic Gardens' educator, are a great way to engage your group with the natural world while exploring one of the many amazing garden spaces at our York Street location. Your group has the option of choosing one of three themes:

  • Amazing Plant Adaptations: What helps plants survive in different environments and ecosystems? Learn about the amazing adaptations that plants have developed over time as we take a closer look at some of the plants in our collections! This exploration can be booked year-round.
  • Powerful Pollinators: Do you speak flower? Our pollinators certainly do! Buzz, fly or crawl on over to learn more about how flowers and pollinators communicate with each other to keep our gardens looking vibrant and beautiful. This exploration is best booked May – August.
  • Tree-rrific Trees: What makes trees so terrific? Join us as we explore how trees grow and learn how to identify some of Colorado’s common trees. This exploration can be booked year-round.

Program Format: Guided Discovery Tours are 45-60 minutes depending on the age and size of your group. Each program includes a guided tour of a section of the Gardens, a topic-based exploration and a hands-on planting activity. Each participating child plants something to take home.

Program Location: Denver Botanic Gardens York Street. Depending on the time of the year and weather, the tour and explorations may take place indoors or outdoors. Your group should come prepared to spend time inside and outside.

Audience: These tours are appropriate for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and other youth community groups wanting to explore the Gardens together.

Program Fee: $120 program fee includes up to 10 scouts and 2 adults. Additional scouts are $12 with a capacity of 15 scouts. Additional adults and non-participating siblings ages 3 and up are $7. Your program fee includes admission to the Gardens. We encourage groups to stay after the program to continue exploring on their own.

Registration Instructions: To confirm your group’s visit, you will pay for the program fee when you register. The week of your scheduled visit you will receive an email to confirm your final headcount. If applicable, any additional payment is due 24 hours before the start of your program.

Cancellations: Cancellations more than one week prior to a class are subject to a 15% cancellation fee. Cancellations with less than one week's notice are non-refundable.
