Japanese Garden Design Intensive- Mountain Inspired Landscapes

This three-day intensive includes lecture, observation and hands-on activities. The Southern Colorado Rocky Mountains are central to the design of the Japanese Garden at Denver Botanic Gardens, known as Shofu-En or "Garden of Pine and Wind". This course provides an overview of the history and influencing philosophy of Japanese gardens. Finding inspiration from local mountain landscapes, learn to apply Japanese garden principles in your garden project big or small. While exotically beautiful, Japanese gardens are based on understanding and adapting to native species and local ecological systems. Take this opportunity to create your landscape design in our new drafting studio where you are guided and supported by an experienced landscape professional.
