Learn how to find your Japanese garden inspiration from the Shofu-En Japanese Garden as well as local foothill- and mountain-scapes. Get expert advice on what materials work well in the Front Range and how to create a serene atmosphere, highlight the seasons and maintain the garden. Discussion looks at the seasonal, water-wise, native plant aspects of Japanese garden design principles.

During the upcoming Spring Plant Sale, Denver Botanic Gardens offers such a wide variety of native plants that shoppers often don t know where to begin! All participants receive a comprehensive list of low-water and sustainable plants sold at Spring Plant Sale.

Desirae is a landscape architect inspired by Japanese gardens and trained in both Japanese garden and ecology-based principles and practices. With over 17 years of experience, she currently serves as the founding principal of Dobro Design and was the former garden asset manager for the Portland Japanese Garden. In these roles, Desirae has led garden renovation, design, construction, maintenance, asset management, research and education while guided by a strong purpose - to connect people to nature through the beauty of awe-inspiring gardens.
